Acrylic Self-Sealing Polyurethane Coating

IVM Research and Development Laboratories introduce Milesi's LUA118, an acrylic self-sealing polyurethane that combines performance with aesthetic appeal. Wood finished with two coats of LUA118 is smooth and almost indistinguishable from the raw wood, says the company. The acrylic product has a low solid content and so it doesn’t fill the grain. It also contains extenders and pigments that compensate the normal wetting effect that a coating produces on the wood, adds Milesi. In addition, LUA118 features a very low sheen (4-6 sheen) which adds to the wood appearing unfinished. LUA118 has been developed for spray application and can be used on any wood where a natural unfinished look is desired. It is an idea way to enhance the beauty of open pore woods such as wenge and oak since it does not fill the grain of the wood. These features make is suitable for the clean and simple designs of modern furniture. LUA118 is resistant to yellowing and it contains UV filters, which also protect the wood from color change. It also has good wear- and scratch-resistance. It is possible to pigment LUA118 with a maximum of 10 percent of KMT if a pigmented open pore is needed.
