BELLINGHAM, Wa. - A two-alarm fire destroyed Towne Painting, a wood-finishing business early Thursday, July 14.

The blaze was reported at 1:30 a.m. Thursday in a two-story 2,000-square-foot building reported the Bellingham Herald. Crews from Bellingham Fire, Whatcom County Fire District 8 and South Whatcom Fire Authority fought the fire, which required the effort of some 35 firefighters.

No injuries have been reported and the cause is yet to be determined. There will be an investigation.

A firewall saved much of the building. A neighboring business in the same building suffered only minor damage from water that leaked in under the firewall.

Towne Painting contained wood trim and flammable liquids. The owner of the shop was awakened by the fire, but managed to escape and call 911.
