GRAND RAPIDS, Mi. - Lumbermen's, a distributor and manufacturer of building supply products, has acquired Michigan Prestain, a Wyoming-based maker of pre-finished cedar shingles, cedar siding, fiber cement siding, cedar trim, and other building products.

Lumbermen's will produce and distribute Michigan PreStain products under the "Great American Spaces" brand.

Terms of the June 9 deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 1989, Michigan Prestain has about 30 employees working from a 66,000-square foot factory in Grand Rapids. Michigan Prestain will continue to operate from this facility.

Employee-owned Lumbermen's employs around 400 workers at 10 sites across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and northern Kentucky.

"We are thrilled to add Michigan Prestain to our already diverse product offering," said Steve Petersen, president of Lumbermen's.

"There is a natural synergy between our companies. We're excited about the growth opportunities and value it will bring to our customers, as well as what it will mean to our employee owners."

Michigan Prestain founder Gregg Troutt intends to stay with Lumbermen's to develop new products and support the combined sales team.
