Xylexpo, Wood Technology Launch Site, May Relocate

MILAN, ITALY - Wood industry show Xylexpo 2012 ran May 8-12 in Milan, on the heels of WIC 2012, the annual Wood Industry Conference of North American based suppliers and distributors. With 515 exhibitors, Xylexpo featured new technology introductions of mostly European machinery and technology firms, systems that make their way to the North American market under no certain timetable.

The size and attendance of Xylexpo is smaller than two years ago, a reflection of pressures on European economics and the Italian market in particular. The total 43,295 visitors was 15.9 percent less than the Xylexpo 2010 wood industry show.

ACIMALL, the organization that stages the show, is reportedly determining whether to return to Milan in two years. Its executive committee will meet in June to choose among Milan, Bologna, Verona or Rimini, according to wood industry news portal EUWID.

The Xylexpo portal offers a window into some interesting developments, some of which, such as the Bargstedt Intellistore are already available in the U.S. Here are some introductions drawn from the Xylexpo 2012 exhibitor news channel.
