Woodworkers How-To Techniques and Tips Topped Weekly Reports

By Bill Esler | Posted: 12/13/2012 11:00AM

Wood smiths have a penchant for sharing their knowledge, techniques and shortcuts. It's one of the most fundamental aspects of the woodworking culture.

Professional expertise among woodworkers differs significantly from that of enthusiasts, as a paying customer awaiting promised delivery date places a different kind of pressure for job completion.

Woodworkers this week shared in their own videos and slide shows - operating a portable sawmill and calculating its business case; steam bending wood and making a table from a single log; cutting a tapered spiral table leg without carving - their personal approach to shaping wood. Snowboard designer Sean Martin made his own CNC drag knife for marquetry and inlays, now available for sale.
