ASHLAND, AL - Wellborn Cabinet, Inc. has announced an initial addition of at least 50 new full-time jobs to its workforce. the Clay Times Journal has reported. The national kitchen and bath cabinet company presently employs more than 800 associates in Ashland and Lineville and has a national sales team covering each of the fifty states. (Wellborn Cabinet also owns and operates two other cabinet manufacturing companies located in New Holland, PA, and in Salt Lake City, UT.)

In making the announcement, company president Paul Wellborn said, “We have been so blessed throughout our five decades of operation. It has been challenging for the kitchen and bath industry since the housing market was hit so very hard in recent years, but things are certainly improving now.” Wellborn Cabinet

Corporate human resources director Ben Rosser added: “Our team is taking applications right now and hopes to add at least 50 and perhaps more for the spring season, which is really beginning now. Folks can apply online or we will be really excited to meet people in person at our Ashland HR office, which is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m."

GM Kevin O’Neill joined in the enthusiasm as he spoke to local officials at a luncheon on Monday, February 18, indicating that the improvements in the housing industry have a direct impact on the kitchen and bath industry. “We have been able to compete on a national scale and are seeing an increase in sales and enjoying taking an additional market share as well. We are positioned for growth, but the greatest asset that we have are our employees, and we are certainly anticipating adding more at this time.”

Wellborn is proud of the fact it is a home-owned and home-operated company located exclusively in Clay County, AL, since 1961.

During his remarks, Mr. O’Neill said, “Our employees are up to 40 hours a week with about 10 percent overtime, and we want to continue hiring in a cautious manner.”

Director Stephen Wellborn said, “We had to make a lot of hard decisions and spent a lot of sleepless nights over the past several years, but now it looks like we are turning the corner. We are cautiously optimistic about the days ahead.”
