900 Blok wood table900 Blok CHICAGO — 900 Blok, a contemporary furniture design studio, recently launched a collection of side and coffee tables in the shape of the U.S. and its 50 states.

Designed in Chicago and manufactured in a warehouse in South Carolina, the tables have high-density fiberwood tops finished in durable lacquer with solid oak legs.

Standard heights are 13 inches for coffee tables and 18 inches for side tables. Lengths and depths vary by state.

“I launched the states tables around March of 2012,” says Julia Purpura, 900 Blok owner/designer. “The territories of each state have always intrigued me, and I found myself connecting with each state in a different way. Every state holds a memory or a meaning to me and I thought that it would be really great to interpret that into furniture in my home. I thought others would like it, as well.”

900 Blok designs a range of tables, desks and a variety of objects, and the company is looking to launch an international collection of coffee tables made in a faux concrete material. Before starting the company in 2012, Purpura spent more than 8 years in the industry working at hospitality and high-end residential interior design firms.
