Rev-A-Shelf Acquires Cabinet Storage Maker Widmer

The business will be renamed renamed Widmer By Rev-A-Shelf GmbH, according to the March 28 announcement.

“The acquisition of Widmer GmbH is a perfect transition for Rev-A-Shelf into the European cabinet industry," David Noe, general manager of Rev-A-Shelf said in a statement. "Widmer is a smaller version of Rev-A-Shelf with injection molded Lazy Susans and a growing line of cabinet storage solutions. The ability to build our brand and expand the customer base for Tresco Lighting and Innovative organizational products is an exciting development for our future."

Noe said a formal introduction of the new business will take place at the interzum show in Cologne, Germany.

Rev-A-Shelf, WidmerMarco Capuano In related news, Rev-A-Shelf hired Marco Capuano as its Director of International Business. Capuano will oversee the European project, along with Widmer founder Guenter Widmer, who takes over the role of general manager of the newly formed business. Isabelle DeCullier remains as the customer service person for France and will collaborate with Widmer By Rev-A-Shelf GmbH to service business in the region.

"Widmer’s acquisition will transform Rev-A-Shelf’s capability in Europe and enhance our strategic positioning as a global player," Capuano said in a statement. "It is an exciting opportunity for both companies and I look forward to working with Guenter and his team for the growth of the company in Europe.”

Widmer added, “I am delighted to join Rev-A-Shelf and be part of its international growth. The acquisition of Widmer through Rev-A-Shelf will be bene cial to both parties; Rev-A-Shelf will gain access to the European and World markets and Widmer will be able to expand its product lines with the large Rev-A-Shelf product range.”

Rev-A-Shelf made news earlier this month with plans to build a 315,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Louisville, KY. Three local operations will be consolidated into the single state-of-the-art facility, which is scheduled for completion March 2014.
