La-Z-Boy Inc.'s member companies produce a wide range of residential furniture. MONROE, MI - La-Z-Boy Inc. will build its new World Headquarters in Monroe, MI. The residential furniture manufacturer announced this week it has finalized the purchase of 120 acres of land from Monroe-based Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) order.
The company plans to break ground in the spring, with completion expected in late 2014 or early 2015. La-Z-Boy said it has received a combination of Michigan state, county and local tax breaks and grants to support the project.
In a statement, Kurt Darrow, chairman, president and CEO of La-Z-Boy, said, "We are delighted to have finalized the purchase of land from the IHM Sisters and are excited to be moving forward with the final design and construction of our new World Headquarters. When completed, this landmark facility will provide an inspiring, innovative and collaborative work environment for our employees and highlight our evolving image as a worldwide leader in our industry."
La-Z-Boy Inc. first announced plans for the world headquarters in August. A leading producer of residential furniture, La-Z-Boy's Upholstery Group companies include Bauhaus, England and La-Z-Boy. The operating units in the Casegoods Group include American Drew, Lea and Hammary, as well as Kincaid. The company-owned retail segment includes 97 of the 317 La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores.
