Residential furniture orders up 2% in May

Residential furniture orders took a positive turn in May, moving up 2 percent compared to the year prior, according to the latest Furniture Insights survey of residential furniture manufacturers and distributors from Smith Leonard. This follows three months of sales decline.

Kitchen cabinet line relaunch drives 56 percent growth at Tru Cabinetry

Since Tru Cabinetry became part of United Cabinet Holdings, its business has grown 53 percent, largely as a result of a product redesign and new technology. The former True-Wood Cabinet Company's sales gain has prompted the addition of a second shift, and 46 new jobs.

Canfor's $58 million pellet plants open in B.C.

Canfor Corp. has officially opened two new pellet plants in British Columbia to produce biofuel from the company's sawmills. A $58 million joint venture with Pacific Bioenergy Corp., the Chetwynd and Fort St. John pellet plants have a combined annual capacity of 175,000 tonnes.
