VANCOUVER, BC - Canfor Corp. has completed its acquisition of Anthony Forest Products for $93.5 million, including $15 million in working capital. The El Dorado, AR-based AFP operates six facilities, including a sawmill, two lumber laminating plants, two chip plants and an I-joist plant.

The purchase plan was first announced Sept. 28. AFP's mills have a combined capacity of 250 mmbf equivalent; 150 mmbf comes from the southern pine sawmill in Urbana, Arkansas. AFP's laminating facilities in El Dorado, Arkansas and Washington, Georgia, produce beams, columns and other glulam products with an annual combined capacity of 75 mmbf. The company's chip mills in Louisiana and Texas have a total annual capacity of 800,000 tons. AFP also owns Anthony EACOM Inc. I-joist in a 50/50 joint venture with EACOM Timber Corp.; that plant has an annual capacity of 54 million lineal feet.

The acquisition comes less than two months after Canfor (TSX: CFP) announced it would close a sawmill in Canal Flats, BC, due to a shortage of logs.

Based in Vancouver, Canfor is an integrated forest products company with interests in British Columbia, North and South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Arkansas. Primarily a producer of softwood lumber, the company also owns a 51.4 percent interest in Canfor Pulp Products Inc.
