Wood Industry Almanac 2016-2017 market drivers: Cabinets & Countertops

U.S. demand for cabinetry is projected to grow 6.4% annually, reaching $17.3 billion in 2019, according to the recent Cabinets study by The Freedonia Group.

Demand will be spurred by growth in kitchen and bathroom renovation projects as homeowners look to boost property values; Freedonia projects bathroom cabinetry demand will reach $1.9 billion in 2019. Overall, much of the market growth will be in semi-custom and custom cabinetry, which is also consistent with findings from KCMA’s monthly Trend of Business Surveys.

In a separate study by Freedonia, U.S. countertop demand is projected to reach $29.3 billion in 2019, achieving 810 million square feet. Engineered stone, natural stone and various niche surfaces will be the fastest growing materials, with the residential market showing the best growth.
