Firefighters rush into some of the most dangerous situations imaginable in the midst of blazing flames and suffocating smoke, which makes the very heavy protective gear and the heavy breathing equipment they use of the upmost importance. Fire Station No. 14 in Aurora, CO, needed reliable space to store this gear and that’s where Pro Garage Systems stepped in to provide assistance.

“Firemen are really rough on equipment,” said Mike Adams of Pro Garage, based in Parker, CO. “Everything has to withstand the most rugged use.”

The most important of the equipment is the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBA), which are worn by firefighters and rescue workers to provide oxygen in inhospitable areas where breathing is difficult.

Fire Station No. 14 is used by the Aurora Fire Department as the SCBA transfer point for other firehouses. Once units are picked up, they are tested, repaired and reconditioned. Storage and organization at Station No. 14 is essential.

There were also an assortment of other everyday tools that needed to be stored as well including floor squeegees, brooms, mops and rakes.

Adams says they came up with a simple design for the project. “By measuring the air packs, we could see how big a wall we could put them on that would best suit their needs.”

Approximately 16 feet of storeWALL HeavyDuty panel from was installed using more than 30 HD Universal Locking Hooks. The hooks have positive Camlocks that lock them in place, so they don’t fall out under heavy use. The extra deep (8.75-in.) hooks can take weights of up to 75 pounds.
