PARKERSBURG, W. VA. – From November 11-12, hundreds of woodturners will gather at participating Woodcraft stores across the country to make wooden pens for military personnel on active duty or those recovering at rehabilitation centers.

Woodcraft will provide tools and supplies for the upcoming 13th Woodcraft Turn for Troops National Turn-a-Thon. Turners will be encouraged to include a personal thank-you message on each pen, along with information about the specific pen, like what type of wood was used.

Since the turn-a-thon began 12 years ago, volunteers have turned 132,398 unique, handcrafted pens for military men and women. Of that total, 12,909 pens were turned in 2015.

“Woodcraft continues to sponsor the Turn for Troops event because many Americans are still serving in harm’s way to protect the U.S.,” said Jody Garrett, Woodcraft president. “Woodcraft recognizes the tremendous sacrifices they are making.”

To register for the turn-a-thon, contact a nearby Woodcraft store.
