LAS VEGAS  –  Senseon's RFID-based Secure Access Control System won in the Retail Technology Solutions category of this year’s GlobalShop Product Design Competition.

The recognition follows the March 28 launch at GlobalShop, a retail store interiors trade show, of an expansion of Senseon, a keyless, cabinet-level, electronic locking system that helps high-end retailers improve loss prevention and enhance the customer experience.

The annual competition is sponsored by the International Interior Design Association to recognize product design advancements in innovation, function, and aesthetics for the retail industry at GlobalShop.

“This year’s winners exemplified cutting-edge product design innovation with an eye toward form and function,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “Product design is key to elevating retail environments and creating memorable customer experiences.”

Senseon, introduced by Accuride International in September 2016, won in the Retail Technology Solutions category. It uses radio-frequency identification (RFID) and patented locking technology to transform how commercial establishments safeguard and manage access to contents in cabinets, improving security and risk management procedures.

“We are proud to receive this prestigious award for the Senseon system, which we have designed as the smart replacement for traditional locks and keys,” said Senseon Solutions Marketing Director Greg Rewers. “Our goal is to make Senseon the go-to choice for retailers needing to protect their high-value merchandise while also making these items easily available to employees and customers in sleek, elegant surroundings.”

Products in the GlobalShop competition were evaluated by a panel of distinguished jurors that included Giorgio Borruso, Principal, Giorgio Borruso Design; Daniel Stromborg, Associate, Product Design Practice Area Leader, Gensler; and Brian Thornton, IIDA, AIA, Principal/Owner, Brian G. Thornton Designs.

The competition was open to exhibitors at GlobalShop 2017 in Las Vegas. Winners were announced and celebrated during the conference, and the winning products will be featured on the IIDA website and IIDA social media to more than 300,000 followers.
