The System TM from Stiles Machinery integrates the STM Opti-Kap 5000 series cross-cut saw with the Microtec 500 series Goldeneye scanner creating a fast, precise solution ideal for productions where final cut and length accuracy is critical, says the company. The Opti-Kap 5000 is equipped with six double supported rollers that allow the saw to achieve processing speeds of up to 1,640 feet per minute. Multiple optimization methods include minimum waste, value, piece length cutting and eight grade settings. Its saw bed is on a 15° degree angle designed to assure accurate feeding and cutting. The saw’s vertical movement is controlled by a smooth cam cycle. Waste pieces are automatically removed from the back to increase speed and eliminate waste on the sort belt. The Opti-Kap 5000 is equipped with crayon mark reading to identify defects and different grade zones. The Microtec 500 Series Goldeneye scanner integrates with the Opti-Kap to offer a higher degree of automatic defect detection and speed. The modular system can be customized to specific production and material needs. It features a low power X-ray scanning unit that allows operators to view inside the board to determine exact information about the rough density, knots, imperfections and position of the materials.
