Black & Decker introduces the Multi-Head MATRIX Modular Tool System built around three different base power units and changeable attachments to drill, cut, sand and more, says the company. The patented Matrix modular tool system is designed to let users add to their tool collection at their own pace. It is offered in 12V MAX, 20V MAX and 4.0 AMP AC base power units, each sold with the drill/driver attachment. The cordless models also offer a lightweight lithium-ion battery, which holds a charge up to 18 months. In addition to the drill/driver attachment that comes with base power unit, this system has six attachments available for purchase separately. The attachments include an Impact Driver with up to 1,300 in.-lbs. of torque; Oscillating Multi-Tool with up to 18,500 oscillations per minute; Jigsaw with up to 2,800 strokes per minute; Detail Sander; Router with up to 9,000 RPM; and a Trim Saw with up to 3,400 RPM. The Matrix 12V MAX and 20V MAX base units will be available in October 2012 and the 4.0 AMP AC base unit will be available in January 2013.
