MEDINA, OH -- RPM International Inc. acquired Morrells Woodfinishes Ltd., the United Kingdom's largest manufacturer of high-performance wood finishes.

Manchester, UK-based Morrells, which has annual net sales of $33 million and employs 150, will remain a standalone operation within RPM2's Wood Finishes Group. 

Morrells high-performance wood coating systems includes proprietary wood stains, lacquers, colorants and adhesives for niche applications in the furniture, cabinetry, and building construction and restoration sectors. Specialty finishes provide protection from fire, weather and bacteria. Brands Xerofire, Induro and Omnia, plus professional application equipment under its Sprayshop brand. 

VLi is Morrell's Italian coatings division specializing in the production of polyurethane and polyester coatings including mirror-gloss and acrylic lacquer systems. Xerofire is a high-performance furniture grade lacquer system that will upgrade a non fire-rated timber substrate to BS476 Part 6 & 7 Class 0 and Class 1, and also achieve the top rating ( S B1 D0 ) in the European Fire Standard EN13501-1 on all wood substrates including veneered plywood.
