BLACK+DECKER AutoSense Drill Wins 'Popular Science' Award

Smart Drill Knows How to Handle Hardwood, Softwood, Metal & More  Black+Decker aims to keep screws from stripping or damaging wood surfaces with its new, 20V MAX Lithium Cordless Drill with AutoSense Technology, which is designed to intuitively stop when a screw is flush with the work surface.

The drill features an electronic clutch, which Black+Decker says is three times more accurate than a mechanical clutch. Rather than presenting users with separate speed and torque selectors, the drill features two modes: Drill (with full torque and speed), and drive (which automatically applies proper speed and torque for the hardware and material being used).

It also features a depth-control function, which allows users to counter-sink screws when necessary.

Its LED work light features an expanded light radius to illuminate work surface areas, and its on-board battery status indicator lets users know when the 20V MAX Lithium Ion Battery is due for a charge

The editors of Popular Science selected the 20V MAX Lithium Cordless Drill with AutoSense Technology as the winner of the Grand Award for the Home category in the 2014 Best of What’s New Awards.

The 20V MAX Lithium Cordless Drill with AutoSense Technology, Model #: BDCDE120C, retails for approximately $79.99 and is available at Home Depot, Walmart, Lowe’s, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, HomeDepot.com, and Lowes.com.
