 Closets and home storage solutions will be in plentiful at the International Builders Show, and at the adjacent Kitchen & Bath Industry Show running Feb. 4-6 in Las Vegas. Between IBS and KBIS, 1,500 companies are expected.

Of these, more than three dozen companies have listed themselves as closets hardware providers, with even more storage-related systems, such as wardrobes, on display by cabinet manufacturers exhibiting at each of the two shows. A single badge gains admission to both shows. 

The Builders Show includes a number of closets systems providers aiming at new home construction, but the applications for remodeling are just as important. The KBIS Kitchen & bath Industry Show features a number of wood components firms and some of the larger functional hardware companies - so a visit to both exhibition halls is worth the time. Closet hardware will be shown by Better Home Products, So. San Francisco, CA, which also carries hardware for cabinetry and doors. Closet hardware offerings include support sockets for dowel rods in a variety of finishes, as well as clothes pole support brackets and sliding door locks.

Blum, Stanley, NC, will appear in two locations at KBIS and IBS shows - one focused on design and trends, the other on the technology behind Blum's hardware components. The manufacturer of functional hardware for the kitchen cabinet and commercial casework industries specializes in concealed hinges, lift systems and drawer runner systems, also manufactures solutions for organizing the contents of drawers. Last summer it introduced a Tip On touch-to-open for its Aventos door lifts, and a lateral stabilizer set for Tandem plus Blumotion full extension drawer runners, aimed at wide drawer applications, including a powered version. 

Sliding door hardware will be shown by CS Cavity Sliders USA Inc. The Gardena, CA firm makes hardware for pocket doors, too. 

Custom Service Hardware, Cedarburg, WI, will feature its Invisidor bi-fold bookcase door. A simple hardware kit can be ordered, or fully built-out bookcases that double as doors. Custom Service also offers an Elite Closet system - pre-built wood shelf modules with clothes pole hanging below.

Hafele America, Archdale, NC, exhibiting within KBIS hall, will be showing sliding hardware, Loox LED, and the Convoy Lavido Pantry Pull-out. it mimics a refrigerator interior, but for storage of non-perishables. Häfele will also display concepts of Universal Design, with products that help transform a home into a functional space for all, regardless of physical abilities or space limitations.

Grass America, manufacturer & distributor of functional cabinet hardware for the kitchen, bath and furniture industries, will show a wide variety of concealed hinges & drawer systems. Grass products include the DYNAPRO Undermount drawer slide. TEC SOFT-CLOSE hinge system with a 3-tier adjustment for controlled closing. New from Grass is the Tiomos Impresso, a tool free version of the popular Tiomos hinge series. Tiomos’ product range provides perfect movement for virtually every application, from standard doors to wide angle doors, from frameless applications to face frame applications and now Tiomos Impresso is available in a 42mm/45mm boring pattern for your manufacturing needs. The Tiomos Impresso offers a three tiered adjustable soft-close mechanism which is fully integrated and concealed in the hinge arm. The closing process is smooth and even from the degree that the Soft-close is activated until the door is completely closed.

Iron-A-Way, Morton, IL, will show hardware for its fold-down ironing centers. The company says there is renewed interest in the compact systems for storing ironing board and iron. The cabinets are built of birch, with oak and maple options offered. The cabinets also can be outfitted with a full-length mirror. Most ironing centers are designed to fit between 2" x 4" studs on 16" center. Iron-A-Way also features a 20-20 catalog that can be imported into design programs.

Murphy Door Inc., Roy, UT, says it has the first production bookcase door system on the market. The company specializes in space saving and concealing systems for doorways. Murphy Doors are available in unpainted wood, hardware only kits, and custom configurations. 

Rev-A-Shelf, Jeffersontown, KY, will be showing its accessories for closet shelving and storage systems - including armoires, belt organizers, fold-down ironing boards, drawer organizers, hampers, pull-out mirros, pant organizers, and dozens more items. Also popular is Rev-A-Shelf's Treco line of LED lighting. In addition Rev-A-Shelf will display hardware for kitchen and bath cabinetry. Just one of the example: the 5CW2 two tier wire organizer, which features independently operating shelves that accommodate a variety of cookware sizes and brands. The top tier organizes lids and the bottom tier features adjustable dividers to store a variety of larger pots and pans. Designed for Base 15 or 24 cabinets, they are made with a heavy-duty chrome plated wire frame and 100 lbs. rated full-extension ball-bearing slides.

At Houzz, Rev-A-Shelf shows this recently introduced wider version of a two-tier wire organizer, at left. Rev-A-Shelf has updated its website and also offers a mobile app, so perusing its extensive offerings is simple.

Richelieu has over 1,600 dedicated employees and offers over 100,000 products (SKUs) in a wide variety of categories including decorative and functional hardware, kitchen accessories, lighting systems, closet and sliding door systems and decorative laminates which are supported in 60 distribution centers across North America.

Sure-Loc Hardware, Salt Lake City, UT,  offers a range of stylish residential door and bath hardware as well as hardware accessories, including the Modern Series which harmonizes with modern urban trends in design and style; and the Rustic Series is a high-end line of sand-cast bronze hardware. The sand-castings have a genuine old-world style with a touch of natural pitting and surface variations which give each piece its own unique look.

Top Knobs, known for its kitchen cabinet hardware, introduced the new Glacier series within the Mercer Collection. Glacier is available with two knobs (¾” and 1-½”) and 7 sizes of pulls from 2” to 12”. Five trending finishes offer are available including Brushed Satin Nickel, Polished Chrome, Polished Nickel, Sable and Umbrio.

Closets Systems

Often equated with wire rack closets, ClosetMaid, Ocala, FL, offers wood and laminate closet systems as well, and has programs for architects, builders and dealers. programs for professional  will debut its TotalSlide Pro and ProGarage. Both product launches provide builders additional opportunities in any room of the house requiring shelving, including the garage. TotalSlide Pro, an upgrade option, attaches to an existing low-profile wire shelf to provide a continuous slide along wire shelving units and helps to increase available hang space where needed.

ClosetMaid's ProGarage is a customizable cabinet line for the garage with stain-, scratch- and impact-resistant TuffShell powder-coated finish on its doors and drawer fronts. ShelfTrack Elite, an adjustable, wall-mounted laminate storage system, was introduced last year and the line returns this year in a new white finish.

Organized Living will feature its FreedomRail Midnite Live, a type of matte black "trend driven" color it introduced this summer.  The company also introduced a new closet storage design software application this summer. Organized Living promotes its ability to meet deadlines and that its systems earn LEED points for projects employing them. 

“Design Your Own is incredibly helpful for my business," says one high profile user, organization TV personality Amanda LeBlanc. "It provides clients with additional resources to find the perfect freedomRail solution for their closet." LeBlanc, a professional organizer for The Amandas and Organized Living dealer and spokesperson, will be appearing at the Organized Living booth during the show. 

Orginnovations, Cincinnati, is showing its Arrange a Space closet systems at the International Builders Show 2014. Based on snap-in-place components and its systemil sysem, dovetailvations says its Arrange a Space closet system gives builder a cost-effective product with heavy-duty capacities that will last a lifetime. Add-on options are simple snap-in components that can be easily moved and adjusted by the consumer. Turnkey services available including: layout, field dimensions/inspection, and installation. 

Real Closet, Duluth, MN,  all-wood organization products, manufactured in the U.S., include systems for closets, pantries, laundry and mud rooms, garages, office and entertainment storage in White, Spice and Java along with doors and many special storage features. Products feature real maple trim and dovetal drawers, reflecting the firm's origins as a custom cabinet builder. A 2020 Catalog and online installation videos are offered.

WoodTrac, a division of Sauder Woodworking Co., is will show its popular WoodTrac wood-based closet system. Complete reach-in and walk-in closets with finishes, contour moldings, profiles and framed panels, with features including glass doors and 5-panel drawer construction add to the custom, high-end appearance of the closets.

Garages continue to be one of the hottest area of growth for closets businesses. Gladiator by Whirlpool, Benton Harbor, MI, will introduced a new team-color sport locker line, and LED lighting for cabinets, along with other garage storage systems. 

HandiSolutions, Elk Grove Village, IL, will show its extruded slatwall, used in commercial retail interiors and in garage interiors. Its newest offerings include resin component shelving and office accessories, and a cherry wood-look panel. 

Wine storage is bigger than ever with consumers. So Craig Industries Wine/Keep product line - modules with wood wine racks built in by the Quincy, IL company will be of interest. 

Kessick Wine Cellars, Greenville, SC, a  wholesale manufacturer of Sapele Mahogany wine cellar racking made in the U.S., will be exhibiting at the IBS 2014 show as well. Also Vintage View Wine Storage, Denver, CO will be on hand in the IBS hall. At KBIS, Wine Logic, House Springs, MO, shows its 12, 18, 24, and 30 bottle wine racks that fit inside standard base cabinets. It comes pre-assembled and can be installed in less than five minutes. Also the Wine Rack Company is showing its quality wooden wine storage products in grade-A hard woods like Mahogany, Red Oak and Lyptus for residential, commercial and hospitality applications.

Cabinetry firms that build closets and wardrobes include Wellborne, Wood-Mode, and  Multi-Residential Kitchens LLC, Clarksville, NH, supplies cabinetry for kitchens and baths from suppliers in North America as well as China, serving multi-family residential projects. Offerings also include wardrobes.
