Elias Woodwork acrylic cabinet doors MORDEN, MB - Elias Woodwork says its newest manufacturing center in Morden, Manitoba is part of a business strategy that also involved the closure of its furniture division. It is auctioning excess equipment from that operation.

"About a year ago we closed our furniture division to make room for more production and development of our other wood products," says the company in an annoncement. "Our new 100,000 square foot production facility in Morden, MB focuses on our painted wood products."

The equipment from the furniture area is being auctioned, including high frequency tenoner, sanding machinery, motors, materials handling and general factory equipment.

The change will allow for increased production of component products such as wood cabinet doors,  moldings and accessories.

Elias Woodwork, which sells only to cabinetmakers, cabinet refacers, contractors and other woodworking professionals, recently launched a new line of high-gloss acrylic doors in a contemporary style. The acrylic layer is laminated on the face and back of an MDF door, which is then edge banded with a color matched or 3D 2-in-1 high gloss 1mm ABS edgebanding.

Peter Elias started Elias Woodwork in a garage to provide cabinet doors to local cabinet shops in Southern Manitoba. It was acquired by John Fehr and his brother Ralph Fehr in 1983, as they recognized a great potential in the cabinet door manufacturing industry.

Now 220-employee Elias Woodwork produces solid wood dovetail drawer boxes, mouldings and designs, and many different accessories, as well as curved cabinet doors and components. Elias also says it will announce ready-to-assemble cabinet offerings in November.
