Earth Anatomy Fabrication, formed in 2013, is part of a business dream shared by R.J. Thacker, a Navy “Doc” and Josh Morgan, a Marine, that is turning into a global supplier of sustainable building products. The parent company, Earth Anatomy, launched a thin stone veneer product offering in 2008.

Cleveland-based Earth Anatomy Fabrication, owned by Chad Willams - also a military veteran -  takes thin stone sheets mounted on a support substrate, and glues them to panel and millwork for architects, builders, product designers, OEM manufacturers, exhibit display makers, and other industries. Eventually the product could be made available for small-volume residential orders.

The natural thin stone veneer was nominated for a Challengers Award, and made the cut from 63 entrants to 33 semi-finalists, and now is one of 20 finalists for the prestigious woodworking prize. The seven winners will be announced August 20 at the 2014 International Woodworking Fair.

Co-founders of parent firm Earth Anatomy (part of Grizzly Partners), are R.J. Thacker, managing partner; and Josh Morgan, partner. Thacker was a Fleet Marine Force Navy Corpsman who served in both The Gulf War and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is also an experienced healthcare consultant skilled in managing the implementation of IT projects for large hospital systems. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Cleveland State University.

Morgan met RJ while serving with the Marine Corps in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He holds a Purple Heart from wounds sustained from a roadside bomb. His professional accomplishments include working in sales for a Fortune 500 medical device firm and Co-Founding Intense Debate, Inc (later acquired by Automattic Inc/Wordpress). Josh holds a B.A. in Economics from Ohio University.
