HIGH POINT, NC – In keeping with today’s increasing designer pet furnishings, Jonathan Charles debuted a pet bed collection inspired by originals circa 1760.

Catering to the ultimate pampered pooch, the occasional furniture manufacturer employs Old World craftsmanship techniques to create finely carved details worthy of their antiqued originals. Replete with brass detailing, handsome carving, and rich walnut and mahogany veneers, the collection comes in four different sizes: small, medium, large, and extra large.

"Gone are the days of mismatched pet beds that attract unwanted attention; now your canine can sleep peacefully in a bed that also complements your existing interior decor," says designer Jonathan Charles.

Based on an original circa 1760, the Walnut Wood Dog Bed is inspired by an Irish oval peat bucket, complete with distressed planked sides and three patinated brass studded bands stretching all the way around. It is available in 25-, 32-, and 40-inch - depending on breed and sleeping preferences. It's priced at $1,495 at Eurolux Antiques.

A mahogany veneer four poster dog bed would be at home in Versailles.

The project designer for these pet beds Jonathan Charles Fine Furniture is Jonathan Sowter, an English furniture designer who also excels at the art of fine antique reproduction. His unique twists create contemporary translations of vintage designs, employs traditional, hand-crafted techniques even for these animals. “It’s all in the detail,” Sowter says.
