Continuous learning is essential to the existence of your business. If you attended the 2019 Cabinets & Closets Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, you returned home with your mind spinning with information. I keep a notebook at my desk with notes from every conference, webinar and educational class I have attended. It is my business bible that I review and add to throughout the year. Learning opportunities are all around you, from attending an NKBA seminar to sitting in at your local business networking event. 

 

As “the voice of the industry,” the ACSP offers many avenues of learning and support for our members to grow and improve their businesses. Here is what is happening for 2019:

 

Certification: We are working on creating a CEU program as part of maintaining your certification. Registered Storage Designer, our level 1 test, is going to be updated to a new version. The Installer Certification test is currently being written and reviewed by a committee. More information on Certification can be found on our website closets.org.

 

Closets 101: In collaboration with Denise Butchko, we are offering our members a 3-part series on closet design training. If you missed registering, the recorded sessions will be made available on our website with the rest of our recorded webinars. 

 

Webinars: The following webinars are currently on the schedule; Being Profitable, Insurance Requirements, Closet Pro and The Sales Process. We intend to have one webinar a month. If you have a request, please reach out and let us know what information or education you would like to see next. 

 

The ART of Design: We will be working on a case study involving designers from across the country as they tackle the same design problems and challenges. It will then be broken down into a 3-part series with Closets & Organized Storage magazine, breaking down the designs and design process. 

 

AWFS: We are happy to announce that we will have a booth at AWFS in July. Several ACSP members are scheduled to speak at the Closet Symposium (more information on page 20), sharing their knowledge on the following topics; Storage Designs and Trends, Lighting Trends and Opportunities, How to Close Sales and Increase Profit, Working with Interior Designs and Builders, Simple Solutions for Typical Design Challenges and How to Set Up a Closet Manufacturing Plant.
