Joss & Main, which runs flash furniture sales online for its 3 million subscribers, says it sees a direct correlation between the uptick in the housing market, and its online member sales activity. It saw mobile shopping grow 70 percent in January, accounting for 30 percent of its revenue. The U.S. Department of Commerce reported a 16 percent rise in January new home sales, which are at a four and a half year high.

"The rebound in the housing market across major U.S. metropolitan areas is undoubtedly helping to drive an uptick in consumer spending on home furnishings and decor, and it's exciting to see how much of that recovery is derived from mobile shopping," says John Mulliken, co-founder and GM of Joss & Main.

Recent housing recovery zones in Las Vegas, Tampa, and four Texas cities are among Joss & Main's top 10 mobile markets,  beating out major markets like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington and Chicago, which weren't as brutalized by the housing downturn.  .

"With many areas hurt by the housing market crisis coming back strong, people are shopping for their homes on-the-go from their phones and tablets," says Mulliken. "Members who have been putting off fixing up their homes for several years now because of uncertainty in the economy are now re-entering the market and investing in their homes."
