Cabinets & Closets
Conference & Expo Site

"This is the first time the event has actually taken place in the Northeast, and with easy access for surrounding metropolitan areas we are looking to have great attendance," McPeek says.

The Cabinets & Closets Conference & Expo will feature a pair of conferences – one dedicated to custom cabinet professionals and the other to storage professionals involved in the design, manufacture and installation of closets, garages and other home organization systems. The conference sets the stage for the expanded Cabinets & Closets Expo, a two-day exhibition of supplies, software, machinery and services.

"This is the business we are in," says McPeek. "We are excited to be able to participate extending our support to our Northeast customers and the opportunity to expose them and the overall industry to new ideas."

Given the intense rebuilding efforts going on in the Northeast following Superstorm Sandy, the opportunity to find new sources and styles of equipment and supplies for home storage and cabinetry will be critical to businesses involved in the rebuilding and restoring of home interiors.

"Our hearts go out to those affected by Sandy," says McPeek. "All the products we present are relevant to those affected by the tragedy. Everyone wants to get the most storage and organization out of any space, and that is exactly what our products do."

The Cabinets & Closets Conference kicks off on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Sheraton Edison Hotel Raritan Center, the headquarters hotel for the new event.

Robert Reiss, host of the CEO Show with Robert Reiss, will deliver the opening keynote speech as part of a general session open to delegates of both the Cabinets and Closets Conferences. The general session will also feature highlights of a new Vance Research project focused on custom cabinet and closet business and design trends.

The Cabinets Conference, co-sponsored by the Cabinet Makers Association (CMA) and Custom Woodworking Business, will include a full slate of presentations geared to helping custom cabinetmakers improve efficiencies and generate more sales. Each session will be presented by a CMA member; attendees will be eligible to earn CEUs toward the CMA’s Professional Certification Program. Preliminary topics include:

• Pricing/Estimating

• Moving from Residential to Commercial Projects

• Automating Manufacturing

• Working with Designers/Architects

• Sales/Marketing

The Closets Conference is co-sponsored by the Association of Closet and Storage Professionals (ACSP) and Closets magazine. The power-packed line up will include harnessing the power of digital marketing and social media to engage current and potential customers, building a winning team and growing sales.

“The digital world is the new frontier,” said Dave Skinner, ACSP president. “Our goal is to demystify it, show you how it is important to your business, give you the knowledge that you need to know and finally show you what to do next.”

Skinner added that the 2013 Closets Conference program is being developed based on feedback from a survey of ACSP members. The survey indicated that human resource issues, including recruiting, developing and retaining “great” employees, is an ongoing top priority faced by most professional storage businesses.

A third key topic of the 2013 Closets Conference is sales, which Skinner noted “is the life blood of every business. We all want to know what forms of marketing works and even more, what doesn’t.”

The Cabinets & Closets Conference will be capped by the always-popular Industry Networking Reception. The reception will also feature presentations of the 7th annual Closets Top Shelf Awards, 20th annual CWB Design Portfolio Awards and the ACSP’s Pioneer Award.

Expanded Expo, Feb. 28-March 1
The decision to integrate custom cabinets and closets into a single event, plus hold it in New Jersey, an area with a high concentration of industry professionals, has sparked a big increase in interest among industry suppliers seeking information about exhibiting. The interest level and demand has been so great, that Vance Publishing Corp., organizer of the event, recently secured additional exhibition space at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison.

The Cabinets & Closets Expo will feature displays by leading manufacturers and distributors of woodworking machinery, CAD/CAM software, decorative and functional hardware, board products, components and accessories used to make and add value to closets, cabinets, garage and other storage systems.

The Cabinets & Closets Expo will also include continuous free educational presentations and demonstrations at a convention center stage.
