WMMA Showcases American Technology at WMSTORONTO -- The Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America (WMMA) will host a Technology Pavilion for the first time at the Woodworking Machinery & Supply Expo (WMS), Canada's premier industrial woodworking event.

WMS is scheduled for October 27-29 at the Direct Energy Centre, downtown Toronto.

The WMMA is a trade association representing the commercial interests of more than 175 manufacturers of USA-made woodworking machinery, cutting tools and accessories. The association will anchor the pavilion, which also will include displays by eight WMMA member companies of interest to Canadian woodworkers.

WMMA Pavilion participating companies include:

Black Bros, blackbros.com

Hendrick Manufacturing, hendrickmanufacturing.com

Mereen-Johnson, mereen-johnson.com

RazorGage, razorgage.com

Safety Speed, safetyspeed.com

The Original Saw, originalsaw.com

TradeSoft, tradesoftinc.com

“Canada is an excellent market for us," said Steven Carter, CEO of Williams & Hussey and chairman of WMMA's International Business Development Committee. "In 2010 Canada imported $252 million in woodworking equipment, including $61 million from the USA, an increase of 41% over 2009. 2011 is looking good as well and we are looking forward to working with the WMMA and the sponsors of the WMS to showcase our equipment."

Brian Donahue of Safety Speed Manufacturing and champion of international trade shows, including Ligna Hannover, for the WMMA, said, "I have had the opportunity to participate in WMMA pavilions throughout the world over the past 15 years and can't say enough about their ability so pick some of the best and most rewarding shows for exhibitors. I'm confident that the WMMA Pavilion at WMS will be one of our best events yet."

Current market conditions in Canada make this a banner year for U.S. woodworking machinery and suppliers to capitalize. Canada's housing market is on a growth trend and the strong Canadian dollar makes U.S. products especially attractive to Canadian woodworking professionals. In 2010 in addition to its growing demand for U.S.woodworking equipment, the Canadian wood products industry:

  • Exported $1.2 billion in wood furniture;
  • Exported $6.2 billion in wood products, excluding wood furniture; and
  • Exported close to $150 million in wood kitchen cabinets.

In addition to the companies participating in the WMMA Pavilion are several other WMMA members exhibiting at WMS on their own. The list includes:

Delcam Artcam

Franklin Adhesives

Graco

Klingspor

Microvellum

Osborne Wood Products

Sherman Williams Co.

Uneeda Enterprizes

Many more WMMA members will be exhibiting through their Canadian dealers.
