The American Alliance for Hardwood Plywood said it will fight what it calls a "protectionist campaign" by the Coalition for Fair Trade of Hardwood Plywood as the CFTHP brings suit against the federal government on the issue of hardwood plywood from China.

Chinese hardwood plywood has been given affirmative final determinations by the U.S. Department of Commerce in its antidumping and countervailing duty investigations. A hearing is set for Sept. 19 by the U.S. International Trade Commission, with a final injury determination scheduled for late October.

On September 27, 2012, the Coalition for Fair Trade of Hardwood Plywood (CFTHP), an association of U.S. manufacturers of hardwood and decorative plywood, filed an unfair trade petition with the U.S. Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission (ITC), regarding hardwood and decorative plywood imports from China.
