WOOD 100: Cabinotch Goes Outside the Box
WOOD 100: Cabinotch Goes Outside the Box

WHEN EXPERT MILLWRIGHT Phill Crabtree founded Cabinotch 35 years ago, he never envisioned the Owensboro, KY-based company would spring to fame and clinch an IWF 2010 Challengers Award for professional-quality ready-to-assemble cabinetry.

The patent-pending Cabinotch system is coupled with an agile online ordering system that gives the firm a national reach. Cabinotch cabinets assembled from slide-together, lock-in-place components are strong, come precisely cut and drilled by Cabinotch’s CNC cutters.

Since it was developed, the Cabinotch product has moved the company from a garage operation to a 32,000-square-foot plant. Crabtree says the business is driven by a passion to share their approach for the betterment of other woodworking firms. Savvy web marketers, Crabtree and his son renamed their firm to match their product.

Cabinotch was featured in last year's WOOD 100, an annual showcase of the industry's most innovative firms. Inclusion in the WOOD 100 list celebrates those companies who have pushed the envelope in manufacturing, management and marketing practices.
