Cabinetry to accommodate pets will find a ready market in the millions of households with dogs or cats.
Amy Britton's Artisan Kitchens, Osterville Village, ME, offers custom cabinetry with dog-bone drawer pulls and an LED-lit recess with a raised shelf to keep pet food bowl insets above the floor.
Thirty-nine percent of U.S. households own at least one dog; 33 percent own at least one cat. There are 86.4 million owned cats and 78.6 million owned dogs. So the market to accommodate them is big.
Artisan Kitchens, dounded in 2005 by owner and principal designer Britton, offers a full range of products from custom cabinetry and countertops to accessories, hardware and fixtures. Artisan Kitchens is a member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association; Britton is an NKBA Certified Kitchen Designer. Clients are located in Boston, Chicago, Hartford, Rhode Island, the South Shore, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard as well as all of Cape Cod.
In addition to design services, Artisan Kitchens can specify, supply and install cabinetry, countertops, hardware, tile, fixtures, and other materials used on a project. Exceptional custom are built under its own line of private label cabinetry, Artisan Custom, made locally by craftsmen under supervision of Artisan Kitchens.
Britton has been involved in the interior design field since 1979, specializing in kitchen and bath design since 1985. She achieved accreditation as a Certified Kitchen Designer in 1993.

Love this idea. The only thing is how to keep the bowl area clean. If painted, it would be hard to scrub and keep
looking good. Maybe laminate the entire enclosure with formica or something. The beadboard looks great on the
back, but again, it would be hard to clean. Any ideas?
