Band Saw Artiste James McNabb

click image to zoom James McNabb is a custom woodworker who builds furniture. He's also an artist working in wood.

More than that, he appears to be crossing into fame through the wonderfulness of his work, and the presence he is gaining for it through adept use of social media platforms.

He describes McNabb & Co., his Philadelphia workshop, as "a design studio dedicated to developing only the highest quality home furnishings and decorative arts. We work directly with clients to produce heirloom quality products with a distinct attention to detail and craftsmanship."

Edgy furniture designs break the mold incorporating venturesome geometries and high resolution digital imagery with laser engraving. Other pieces are classic furniture, with a twist. Mcnabb describes his designs:

"The Classics are our contemporary response to traditional furniture archetypes. These pieces are defined by clean lines, natural colors, and high quality craftsmanship. A modern take on everything we love about yesterday's furniture."

McNabb says his City Series, shown in the slideshow and the poster is a collection of wood sculptures that represent a woodworker's journey from the suburbs to the city.

"Each piece depicts the outsider's perspective of the urban landscape," he notes "Made entirely of scrap wood, this work is an interpretation of making something out of nothing. Each piece is cut intuitively on a band saw. The result is a collection of architectural forms, each distinctly different from the next."

And distinct from anything else as well. His process video shows how he did it.
