The digital age has hit the woodworking industry with a gusto, with digital printing for surface technologies now being used to a greater extent.
David Steranko, vice president for Anderson America Corp., says digital printing offers value added options and can help manufacturers save on material costs. âThis technology allows users to use lower value materials while giving a high-end look,â he says.
In laymanâs terms, the printer can take a relatively inexpensive material, such as MDF, and transform it so it looks like a high-end exotic or inlay. Custom graphics, such as logos or inlay patterns also can be printed at the same time as woodgrain patterns â for an infinite number of design choices available on demand.
Digital printing can be used in a wide variety of commercial and residential applications, including: POP displays, furniture, fixtures, flooring, signage, as an accent on casegoods and more. And as the technology improves and machines become even faster, look for the applications to keep growing.
