Cutters for Signs, Wood

Established in 1989, MultiCam has manufactured thousands of CNC cutting systems, serving not just the woodworking industry, but also other markets, allowing the firm to bring knowledge of cutting solutions created for various industries into the development process for its woodworking industry offerings. MultiCam works not only with CNC routers, but also builds laser, plasma, waterjet and knife cutting machines, at its 135,000-square-foot facility in Dallas.

In May, MultiCam announced several new machines, including the Classic CNC router, designed to meet woodworking industry demand for a rigid, reliable CNC machine platform with top performance at an entry-level price, says John Harris, MultiCam’s director of sales and marketing.

“The Classic offers a price/performance breakthrough in CNC router design,” said Harris. It features MultiCam’s hand-held EZ Control motion-control system. Applications include sign manufacturing and work requiring value, efficiency and affordability.

Two other recent knife cutting offerings launched in May are the Graph-X-Cutter, and the Digital Express, both with an emphasis on affordability in the basic configuration of their features. The Graph-X-Cutter cutter features a maximum cutting speed of 1,000 inches per minute. It also delivers 2,100 ipm maximum rapid traverse, reducing dead time as it repositions for cuts above the material. “This high-speed CNC finishing system is fast, flexible and extremely affordable,” said Harris.

The fully equipped Graph-X-Cutter features both high-speed routing and heavy-duty tangential knife cutting capabilities. An integrated 1-inch phenolic vacuum table is standard. An optional MultiVision digital registration system allows for correction of image skew and drift. All axes feature Teknics brushless AC servo drives. The Graph-X-Cutter is available in four model sizes, ranging from 50 x 50-inch to 80 x 120-inch.

Even Faster
One other new offering, the high-speed Digital Express, is described by MultiCam as an “affordable, configurable” digital finishing system that is the “fastest production machine on the market.” It provides features normally available on more expensive cutting systems, according to Harris. For high-speed digital finishing at speeds up to 7,000 inches per minute, it has a fast, wide-format, sheet-feed or conveyorized cutting platform. The Digital Express combines high-speed digital registration with its routing and knife-cutting capabilities. Features include an all-steel base frame and high-flow vacuum table.

At AWFS Fair MultiCam plans to show its model 3000 CNC in Booth #4419.
