Marketing Wood Products Made in America

Made in America - Manchester WoodManchester Wood The quickening pace of U.S. wood manufacture has been accompanied by another phenomenon: marketing of “Made in America.” Back in 2008 Wood & Wood Products had already identified wood products Made in America as an editorial theme. Since then, variations of the phrase have been trademark.

Correspondent Diane Sawyer narrated a ground-breaking series on “American Made” for ABC TV World News, reporting on 50 firms, including Louisville Slugger Baseball Bats (click below for video); Manchester Wood furniture in Granville, NY (logo above); L.J. Gascho, Michigan residential furniture maker; 275-employee Harden Furniture (click below for video); 650 employee Vaughan-Bassett; and GatCreek in West Virginia, which employs 175 hand building Appalachian cherry wood furniture. The site keeps a running directory of of U.S.-made goods, listing dozens of flooring, furniture, window, door, and cabinet firms.

Sites like AmericansWorking.com also list domestically-made bedroom furniture, dining room furniture, chairs, even wood caskets from the Cistercian monks at Trappists Caskets in Dubuque, IA or from Caskets by Design, in Caldwell, ID.

Made in America is also a formal organization marketing U.S. made goods and services in multiple industries, including wood products. At the High Point Market, a Made in America pavilion doubled in size.
