3 Tips to Avoid Table Saw Kickback

Table saw kickback is caused when the saw blades don’t have enough blade clearance. While cuts made with “satin cut” and other “smooth cut” blades need very little sanding, some species like yellow pine will bind on a blade when ripping and will kick back and kick up, overloading the saw motor. In summary:

1. Carbide blades are preferred for general kickback-free cutting.

2. Avoid smooth cut blades to eliminate the possibility of kickback.

3. Remove non-carbide blades immediately when smooth cuts are no longer needed.
