VANCOUVER, British Columbia – The fourth-generation owners of Akhurst Machinery Ltd. will receive the Family Enterprise of the Year Award (FEYA) for British Columbia at an online ceremony set for Sept. 24. The award was established by the Family Enterprise Xchange in 1986 to “recognize, celebrate and promote the achievements of Canadian family businesses and the considerable contribution they make to both their local communities and our national economy.”

Akhurst Machinery has outgrown its current location and has moved to a larger facility in Mississauga, Ontario, near Toronto.

After six decades in the woodworking machinery business, and 20 years with Masse Sales, Gord Gulbranson has retired.

Woodworking machinery suppliers Akhurst Machinery, Normand, Scm Group Canada and Taurus Craco have each recently joined an expanding exhibit base for the 2013 Woodworking Machinery & Supply Expo (WMS), Oct. 24-26 at the International Centre.

This year marks a very special milestone for Akhurst Machinery. They are celebrating their 75th year in business!
